Martin Borgmeier Tees Off 2023 Season With WLD Mesquite Win

Borgmeier outlasted Reid Russell in the final round

Defending long drive world champion Martin Borgmeier’s hot streak continues as he captured the WLD Mesquite title to open the 2023 World Long Drive season. Borgmeier topped out at 408 yards in the final round; Reid Russell failed to land a drive on the grid in the finals. Borgmeier, ranked No. 2 in the world, needed late-round heroics in the semifinals, crushing a dramatic 418-yard drive on his final ball of the round to top Josh Koch’s 417.

Monica Lieving earned the win in the Women’s Division, out-driving six-time world champion Sandra Carlborg 350 to 320 in the finals.

Jeff Gavin captured the Senior Division title with a drive of 417 yards.

Jay Heath won the Amateur Division.
