ATLANTA (July 9, 2024) – World Long Drive (WLD) former champions and executives joined local partners today to preview the sport’s upcoming World Championship to be held at Eagles Landing Golf Course from August 8-11, 2024, and broadcasted nationally on GOLF Channel and ESPN. The high-octane, head-to-head competition will showcase more than 150 of the world’s best hitting drives north of 400 yards all weekend.

WLD Chief Commercial Officer David Livingston, World No. 2 long driver and three-time world champion Phillis Meti, World No. 3 and three-time tour winner Colton Casto, WLD analyst Alexis Belton, and Eagles Landing Country Club Board Chair Susan Clowdus shared their excitement regarding the sport’s upcoming championship event in Atlanta and previewed what fans can expect at this year’s event.

“We are thrilled to partner with Eagles Landing Country Club, one of the premier clubs in the Atlanta area, for the 2024 World Long Drive World Championship,” said Livingston. “Our sport has seen continued growth as the athletes continue to elevate their game. We look forward to bringing the best players in the world back to Atlanta to compete for a championship belt.”

Clowdus added, “Eagles Landing has hosted a number of high-profile events in its history and it is incredibly special to be the home of the World Long Drive World Championship. These athletes bring a fun, unique attitude to the world of golf and it is exhilarating to watch up close. We look forward to seeing how they take on the challenge of the grid at Eagles Landing.”

Meti, an Atlanta resident and the runner-up in last year’s World Championship, shared how she is preparing for the challenge of a brand new grid with the intensity and pressure of a championship on the line.

“There is nothing like standing on the tee box at the World Championship with every fan in the crowd cheering you on as you prepare to hit the biggest shot of your life,” Meti said. “The competitors love the adrenaline rush created by the crowd’s energy and support, and it really does contribute to success on the grid. We couldn’t be happier to be back in Atlanta competing for the biggest prize in our sport.”

Colton Casto, the most recent winner in the Open Division and the only player on tour this year to win multiple events, believes competing in Atlanta will only raise the level of competition. Castro’s longest drive in last week’s event was 442 yards.

“The difference between winning and losing is marginally thin in our sport,” Casto said. “This year’s championship will have the deepest long drive field in the world. Winning the World Championship will require four days of intense focus and precision, but I know we all look forward to the challenge and can’t wait to compete in front of the loudest fans on tour.”

The culmination of the 2024 WLD season, the World Championship is a four-day competition that will crown two world champions - (men’s) Open Division and the Women’s Division.

Tickets to the World Championship event are now on sale starting at $20. Children ages 12-and-younger get in free. On August 10, WLD will host a youth clinic at Eagles Landing Country Club.
